Busy with these new girls for one thing. Meet Miss Potter

Patchwork beauty

I am having so much fun with patchwork and quilting. This is my first beautiful attempt and I LOVE IT. The Amy Butler fabric in the binding works so well.

I will need this today!

I woke up to gorgeous sunshine and a heavy frost. It is chilly, chilly, chilly here this morning. I love the early morning sunshine, the colours and the shadows and the promise of things to come. I was bathed in bright sunlight as I made my first (and always the best) cup of tea of the day.

More pics

I am really trying to get the hang of uploading pics, so I thought , now I have had a cup of tea, I would have a go at uploading some more!

The fire is lit!

This is our beautiful open fire. The fireplace is the original 1930’s tiled surround. Most people in our street have taken the fireplaces out. We had our chimney swept and cleaned in April, so this is our first winter with it. It really makes the house a home.  I love the smells of different seasons and the memories they evoke, the smell of  wood smoke from a chimney on an autumn afternoon means tea and crumpets to me.  We are lucky here to have some beautiful trees in front of the house. Although I now live next to a busy road, I still have trees, and I can watch them change slowly from day to day. The leaves on the beech tree in front of the house still look green until you take your eyes upwards and notice they are curled and browning at the top.

I bought this card from my fave fabric shop too. The shop is called Hometown and is in Rochester High Street in Kent. It is a haven of gorgeous things, not just fabrics, but books, cards, ribbons, quilts. I love it

Some gorgeous things

It is wet and windy here today. The gusts are whizzing the dark clouds across the sky at an alarming rate. We have just had a gorgeous sunday lunch. It is turning into one of those beautiful sundays. I had a power walk up the hill to get the Sunday papers earlier, then settled down with a cup of tea before starting on lunch. I had one of my fave CDs on : Pachelbel’s Canon, while cooking the Sunday roast. Food is now eaten and washing up done and put away and now I am settling down for some bloggy catchup. Let me share with you some of my week’s gorgeousness. I treated myself to one of my favourite perfumes. It is so uplifting to use such a beautiful fragrance and it cheers me up no end. You can just see the tea towel I bought at my local fabric shop’s special customer evening.

Below are a couple of other things I bought that evening. The fat quarter pack of fabric is so so wonderful and I can’t wait to get sewing.

Some more fabric below, already made into a cushion, with the most lovely ribbon sewed on the back panel.

AND, wait for it, my Granny Stripe Blankie. Hooray. It is so lovely. I am loving making this. Two weeks ago I couldn’t crochet.

I really wanted to show you the rest of my delights, but it will have to wait until                      tomorrow now as it’s time to light the fire and put the kettle on for tea.

Happy Saturday to you all. It has been very beautifully autumnal here today. I drove from city to city this morning and there is a section of the A2 that looks right across the Weald of Kent. It’s a mixture of hop gardens, oast houses, the coast and ancient woodland, with a hint of hilliness in the distance. It is a view that never fails to move me.

I have included a picture of my autumn runner and very pleased I am with it. It is my first Proper Patchwork Project and I just love the colours.

We had a lovely family saturday, with C’s sister spending the day. We made 2 types of pudding! Hugh FW’s Pear and Almond Cake and a chocolate Tiffin. Yummy!

The weather is certainly getting cooler in the evening now and tomorrow we are planning to light the Fire with a ceremony involving Welsh Cakes and lots of tea

Guilty Pleasures

What are your Guilty Pleasures? Well mine today was a long, hot, chocolatey afternoon bath with the wonderful Faith In Nature Chocolate Bubble Bath. It smells good enough to eat. Sadly it was the previous eating of the chocolate that caused my waist to expand to the ENORMOUS size that it is. Enough of that ! I have had an achy, fluey sort of feeling for a couple of days, the sort of feeling that needs an afternoon bath and a little snooze. My spirits and energy have been refuelled now and the achy, fluey feeling has subsided.

My morning walk today was a tad damp so I don’t think that helped the achy fluey feeling. I started out in a very light drizzle this morning and finished in a downpour. It was a lovely walk , the view across the valley was obscured by cloud and rain , but I could just make out the castle and Cathedral.  I did get a thrill when I found a bush full of sloes. I can’t wait to make a batch of Sloe Gin, ummm, yummy.

The rest of my morning involved Chores; shopping, prescription collecting, library book collecting. My book thrill of the day was Erica Knight’s Simple Crochet. I am looking forward to settling down to read it later.

I am off to my Dad’s soon, so will catch up with the rest of my day latter. xx

Hello world!

Welcome to my new blog. I want to start sharing some of the gorgeousness of my life and help fill your day with friendship and fun. I love blogs. It’s like having a huge extended family.

I am back home now after spending the night with my Dad and Son. We went for a beautiful huffy puffy autumn walk this morning. Sadly I didn’t take my camera to share the journey, but it involved apple orchards, old lepper hospitals and thatched barns. BLISS!

I have just been made a beautiful cup of tea, served in my fave Emma Bridgewater Peony Mug. Tea really does taste better in a gorgeous mug and this one is the best at the moment.  No cakes or buns today as we had a late lunch; wonderful homemade egg mayonnaise sandwiches.

I have indulged in a bit of crocheting today. I taught myself to crochet last Friday. Hooray! I have now joined the ranks of Granny Squarers and it wasn’t too hard either LOL. Saturday saw me trundling down the High Street to the arty crafty bit of a wool shop to buy more yarn. As recommended by Lucy from Attic 24 (my inspiration to learn to crochet, THANK YOU LUCY) I bought Stylecraft Special Double Knitting Yarn to begin a Granny Stripe Blanket. Having only ever crocheted 2 rows of Treble Crochet over 21 stitches, I embarked on chaining 240 to make the blankie. ARRGGGH, I didn’t know it was best to use a size bigger hook to start with, so my foundation chain is a tad tight, BUT, it is my first Real Project, so I am HAPPY with it!

Well. enough waffle for now as more Tea and Crochet is needed!

I love my blog already!!!!!
